The Cyprea Card Centre was established with the appointment of Cyprea Hotels & Travels as a representative agent for Visa & MasterCard in 1988. The appointment was made by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd in Sri Lanka . Being a phase of increased growth of tourism, the local businesses were faced with the introduction of an influx of customers bearing credit cards.

The objective of the Card Centre was to provide a service to the local businesses whereby they in turn could enhance their tourism related activities through supporting the clients' credit cards.

The Card Centre services further developed in 1989 to bring in the JCB card, one of the most widely used credit cards by the Japanese. Our technical support system includes programming and servicing Electronic Data Capture terminals.
